How to Use the Color Picker

This tool helps you pick colors from an image. Since it's privacy-focused, your images are processed in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.

1. Loading Your Image

You have three ways to load an image:

  • Upload from your device: Click the "Choose File" button and select an image file from your computer.
  • Paste an image: Copy an image from anywhere (like a website or a screenshot tool) and paste it directly onto the page by pressing Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V on a Mac).
  • Load from a URL: Paste the web address of an image into the text box that says "https://example.com/image.png" and click the "Load" button.

2. Picking a Color

Once the image is displayed, move your mouse cursor over it.

  • A magnifying loupe will appear, showing you a zoomed-in view for precise selection.
  • The "Color Details" section on the right will instantly update to show a preview of the color under your cursor.
  • You will see the color's value in different formats: HEX, RGB, RGBA, HSL, and HSV.

3. Saving Colors to Your Palette

To save a color, simply click on any part of the image.

  • The color you click on will be automatically added to the "My Palette" section.
  • You can also use the "Add to Palette" button to save the currently selected color.

4. Using Your Palette

  • All the colors you save will be shown as small squares in the "My Palette" area.
  • You can click on any of these saved color squares to see its details again.

5. Copying Color Values

In the "Color Details" section, each color format (HEX, RGB, etc.) has a "Copy" button next to it.

  • Click this button to copy the color code to your clipboard.

6. Exporting Your Palette

When you have finished creating your color scheme, click the "Export Palette" button.

This will download a CSS file named color-palette.css to your computer. The file contains all the colors you saved, formatted as CSS variables, ready to be used in your web projects.
