Generate strong, random passwords locally in your browser.

How to Use the Secure Password Generator

This guide will walk you through the simple steps to create strong, secure passwords using the provided HTML file. Since all operations happen locally in your browser, your generated passwords are completely private.

Step 1: Open the File

Simply double-click the passwordgenerator.html file. It will open in your default web browser (like Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari). You don't need an internet connection to use it.

Step 2: Customize Your Password

Once the page is open, you can set the criteria for your new password.

Adjust the Length

  1. Find the Password Length slider.
  2. Click and drag the slider to select how long you want your password to be. You can choose any length between 8 and 64 characters.
  3. The number next to the label will update as you move the slider.

Select Character Types

Below the slider, you'll see four checkboxes. Check the boxes for the types of characters you want to include:

  • Include Uppercase Letters (A-Z)
  • Include Lowercase Letters (a-z)
  • Include Numbers (0-9)
  • Include Symbols (!@#$%^&*)

For the strongest passwords, it is recommended to keep all four boxes checked.

Step 3: Generate the Password

Click the large blue "Generate Password" button. A new, random password that meets your selected criteria will immediately appear in the display box at the top of the page.

Note: A password is also automatically generated for you when you first open the page.

Step 4: Copy and Use Your New Password

  1. In the password display box, click the copy icon button on the right side.
  2. A confirmation message, "Copied to clipboard!", will appear below the box for a few seconds.
  3. Your new password is now ready to be pasted. Go to the website or application where you need to set or change your password and paste it into the "New Password" field.

Tips for Strong Passwords

Why Use a Generator?

Humans are predictable. We often use common words, dates, or patterns that are easy for attackers to guess. A password generator creates truly random strings that are significantly harder to crack, providing a massive boost to your account security.

Use a Password Manager

It's impossible to remember dozens of unique, complex passwords. A password manager securely stores all your passwords and can auto-fill them for you. Consider using reputable options like Bitwarden or 1Password.

How to Use Your New Password

After copying the password, navigate to the website or app where you need to change your password. Paste it into the "New Password" and "Confirm Password" fields. If you use a password manager with a browser extension or mobile app, it can often handle this process for you.
